"We are only carrying out our childhood dreams. Childhood is the laboratory of a life. Memory is defined because as children we have constructed ourselves. My practice is linked to the naivety of children's drawings because the message has to be direct, unambiguous, retracing a path that takes us back to the beginning, the rage and the malice, believing in the most absurd things. This is what brings us back to reality and makes it more beautiful because, through childhood, the artist builds a universe that makes you dream.

Biography

A graduate of the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris in 2000 and the Ecole Régionale des Beaux-Arts de Nantes in 2001, Fabien Verschaere has since made a sensational entry into the world of contemporary art with his explosive exhibitions.

Fabien Verschaere likes to tell (himself) stories. We like to listen to him. To be part of his world for a moment. Or the other way round. In a word, he is a phenomenon, a being of overflowing energy. Whatever the medium, whatever the place, whatever the context. Fabien Verschaere succeeds every time. He surprises us while comforting us. His exhibitions are exquisite apocalypses full of delicious cruelty. Without complexes, his art delivers his anxieties and fantasies to us, through works crossing demonic and fairy symbolic representations.
