An Arctic Raptor in the Depths of Night
With the “Snowy Owl” humidor, Elie Bleu enriches its animal collection with a creation dedicated to one of the most emblematic raptors of the Arctic regions. Available in 110 and 250 cigar capacities, this cigar humidor features the snowy owl in a composition inspired by the vast snowy territories of the North.
The marquetry combines grey-stained redgum, blue-stained sycamore, and white-stained sycamore. The raptor’s eyes are made of black and orange-stained sycamore, while the beak and talons are crafted from black mother-of-pearl. The background of the humidor, in grey redgum with brownish-blue reflections, evokes a dark forest from which the snowy owl emerges in the depths of night. The bleached, wavy-grained sycamore, meanwhile, suggests the streaks of wind on a snowy expanse.
On the front, a line from Emily Dickinson’s poem Wild Nights is featured. The choice of this phrase was made due to the richness of its resonances: its words evoke not only the night in which the snowy owl lives and its untamed wildness, but also a more troubled intensity, stretched between harshness and sensuality.
